Maritime Services Business Development Specialist (Finance)

SUMMARY: Responsible for developing brand awareness by interacting with new prospects and existing customers to build brand equity and increase market share by selling maritime services.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Identify new selling opportunities within the maritime sector. Maximize and manage the volume, revenue and margin in order to deliver profitable sales results. Identify customer requirements and expectations while finding solutions to capture new business. Effectively communicate with customers to discuss opportunities, concerns or corrective actions required. Maintain a full pipeline of opportunities and target achievable accounts while diligently updating our CRM on leads and follow ups. Anticipate customer requirements and ensure they are met in a professional and proactive manner while providing customer service that exceeds the customer's expectations. Identify and evaluate trends in the industry, customer and/or territory base. Meet and exceed budgets and minimum KPI requirements such as new revenue growth, contribution margin, gross profit, multiple maritime service sells to new and current customers. Challenge status quo with effective solutions and improvements to the achieve departmental sales goals. EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in business or a related field from a Maritime Institution; or a combination of post high school and equal experience may be substituted for education.

EXPERIENCE: 3 years prior business development and maritime experience, including knowledgeable of industry related issues in transportation.

TECHNICAL PROFICIENCY: Proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Office products, including Word, Access, Excel and customer relationship management tools, such as Salesforce.

COMPETENCIES: Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to evaluate process effectiveness and develop change or alternatives. Ability to prioritize, organize and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously. Ability to demonstrate maritime industry knowledge for effective customer services. Ability to utilize problem solving skills. Ability to perform accurately in a detail-oriented environment. Ability to mentor, coach, train and/or supervise employees. Skill in preparing clear and concise reports, correspondences, and other written materials. Ability to onboard new accounts while making the transition seem seamless to the customer. Ability to build relationships with current and new accounts while sharing previous experience and/or expertise to fellow co-workers and customers.

OTHER: Travel is required to cover assigned accounts. Telework options are available upon approval from your supervisor.

JOB SCOPE: Position impacts multiple business units/segments.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature and the like. Extended use of a computer keyboard, viewing of a computer monitor and the ability to sit for long periods of time. Apply
