A Brief Overview
The Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Vice President is responsible for providing strategic leadership and oversight of all EHS programs across the organization. This role ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, drives continuous improvement initiatives, and fosters a culture of safety and environmental stewardship. The EHS Vice President collaborates with executive leadership, site managers, and employees to align EHS strategies with organizational goals and ensure the well-being of all stakeholders.

What you will do

  • Establish and implement a comprehensive EHS vision, strategy, and objectives that align with the organization's mission and business goals. Ensure alignment with global, national, and local regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Develop policies, procedures, training, and systems to maintain compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other relevant regulations. Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to identify and mitigate potential safety and environmental hazards.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the EHS team, including managers and specialists, to ensure effective execution of programs. Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and environmental awareness across all levels of the organization.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation and improvement in EHS programs and processes. Leverage data and analytics to measure performance and implement best practices.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory agencies, community groups, and industry organizations, to advance EHS initiatives. Communicate EHS performance, goals, and achievements to executive leadership and the board.
  • Lead the organization's response to emergencies, incidents, and crises related to EHS.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on EHS topics for executive leadership and other key stakeholders.
  • Represent the organization at industry events, conferences, and forums related to EHS.
  • Directing and managing workers compensation and property insurance for the organization.
  • Reviewing CAPEX and major projects for EHS adherence.
  • Support of M&A activities.
  • Environmental remediation and monitoring programs.
  • Application of Human Organizational Performance (HOP) principles and concepts related to safety management systems.
  • Support of behavioral based safety programs (BBS) initiatives and principles.


Education Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, Occupational Safety, Engineering, or a related field (Required) orĀ 
  • Master's Degree Environmental Management or related EHS field (Preferred)


Experience Qualifications

  • 10+ years in progressive EHS leadership roles, with a track record of managing multi-site or global EHS programs. (Required)
  • 10+ years demonstrated success in developing and executing EHS strategies and initiatives in a manufacturing or industrial setting. (Required)


Skills and Abilities

  • Proven ability to develop and execute long-term EHS strategies aligned with business objectives. (High proficiency)
  • Comprehensive knowledge of OSHA, EPA, FDA, and other relevant regulations and standards. (High proficiency)
  • Experience in managing PSM (Process Safety Management) facilities and implementing and maintaining a comprehensive system to prevent the release of highly hazardous chemicals. (High proficiency)
  • Skilled in identifying and mitigating complex EHS risks. (High proficiency)
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop high-performing EHS teams. (High proficiency)
  • ISO 45001 and 18001 implementation, management, and auditing (Medium proficiency)
  • Ability to leverage data and analytics to drive continuous improvement and measure performance. (Medium proficiency)
  • Communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels. (Medium proficiency)
  • Skilled in leading organizational change and fostering a culture of safety and environmental responsibility. (Medium proficiency)


Licenses and Certifications

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) (Preferred)
