Shotcrete Department Director (Finance)



Compensation Range
$180,000.00 - $200,000.00 Annual Salary

Job Description Summary:
Shotcrete Department Director is responsible for overall management and administration of the Shotcrete operating group with bottom-line profit accountability within all regions.

Job Description:

  • Develop sales goals and strategies for Division or Operations Group, including analysis of current and future sales targets
  • Identify, develop and pursue potential project opportunities and client base
  • Develop new or renewed client relationships.
  • Able to perform all Senior Project Manager and/or Project Executive responsibilities.
  • Review and approve all estimates and schedules prepared for shotcrete projects.
  • Prepare and submit project proposals and prepare project team for presentations, as required.
  • Review and lead contract review and negotiations
  • Review project plans, requirements and specifications
  • Oversee or prepare accurate quantity takeoffs and materials pricing
    Determine labor and construction equipment costs
  • Prepare conceptual estimates
  • Meet and maintain bidding and work schedules
  • Ensure that "recap of contract highlights" has been prepared.
  • Lead all project planning, including conducting job start meetings and planning sessions.
  • Ensure that scheduling procedures are followed - baseline schedule, monthly updates, three week rolling schedule to align shotcrete operations and availability across all active projects.
  • Ensure that cost control is set up and maintained in accordance with company standards.
  • Lead and supervise project mobilization and job setup. Ensure that the project is properly staffed and that they have all the tools and resources needed.
  • Recruit, train, mentor and oversee supervision of qualified construction personnel.
  • Supervise the activities of the project team to ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards and quality standards.
  • Make periodic job visits and reviews and report accurate status to President. Complete project review checklist. Enforce "Special Risk Alert Policy.
  • Maintain a positive cash flow and ensure timely progress payments.
  • Ensure timely job close-out and closing job reports.
  • Prepare and oversee timely and accurate management reports, including "Jobs in Progress."
  • Monitor each project team member's compliance with their job descriptions and responsibilities and conduct formal employee performance evaluations for staff.
  • Maintain continued client contact on current projects.
  • Partner in developing and executing Company Business Plan with specific ownership of the shotcrete department
  • Assist management in the administration of the company as required.
  • Monitor and manage bottom line profit of operation group.
  • Complete other responsibilities as assigned

MINIMUM SKILLS OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Engineering, Construction Management or Architectural degree or equivalent experience
  • Shotcrete field construction experience (10 years, including supervisory skills)
  • Leadership ability
  • Problem-solving ability and strong sense of urgency
  • Organizational and communication skills
  • Drafting and computer skills
  • Fundamental knowledge of contract law and project accounting
  • Thorough understanding of all project management control systems (scheduling, cost control, procurement and estimating)
