Manager, Accounting (Finance)



Description:

The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the monthly US book close, ensuring the accuracy and compliance of journal entries, reconciliations, and cash transactions. This role supervises two Senior Accountants and collaborates with cross-functional teams to resolve discrepancies and support accurate financial reporting. Key responsibilities include managing intercompany and prepaid reconciliations, supporting internal and external audits, and ensuring adherence to SOX controls. The Accounting Manager will also maintain and enhance standard operating procedures for all owned processes.

Essential Functions:

  • US book close - review and approve all journal entries and reconciliations prepared by direct reports to ensure accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.
  • Supervise 2 Senior Accountants (US direct report and India report) by providing guidance and leadership in meeting timelines and deadlines.
  • Review and approve daily cash transactions populated by Reval system to JDE and ensure all are recorded accurately. Work with Treasury, Accounts Receivable and/or Accounts Payable teams to properly capture cash transactions that are not coded by Reval.
  • Review and approve intercompany reconciliations prepared by the Senior accountant, including in-transit inventory and intercompany loans. Resolve all differences with international/domestic partner entity accountants.
  • Review and approve prepaid expense reconciliations, including review of expense details and invoices to determine if any adjustments need to be recorded. Provide guidance to stakeholders on expense classification. Coordinate recording of other prepaid expense items, including sample product and debt-related transactions, with stakeholders.
  • Coordinate and provide requested internal control (SOX) compliance and audit support to internal and external auditors. Maintain standard operating procedures for processes owned.

 

Education:

  • Bachelors Degree (BA/BS) Accounting or Finance - Required

Experience:

  • 5 years or more in Progressive accounting experience within a corporate setting
  • 2 years or more in Public accounting experience
  • 2 years or more in Supervisory/managerial experience
