Regional Test Engineering Manager (Engineering)
JOB SUMMARY
Regional manager leading Test Engineering for US & Canada operations to achieve excellence with test capability and test technology development & deployment into Jabil's manufacturing facilities. The role is also responsible for ensuring that capability and technology exchange & collaboration occurs within Jabil, key customers, and suppliers.
The Test Engineering Manager is responsible for ensuring Test Engineering excellence across each of Jabil's manufacturing facilities with the US & Cananda.
LOCATION
Location will be on-site at any U.S. Jabil manufacturing facility. This is not a remote role.
Travel will be up to 50% to other U.S. manufacturing sites, depending on business and project needs, as applicable.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead the implementation of the regional Test Engineering strategies across the US and Canada sites.
Establish and clearly communicate all global and regional Test Engineering strategies to the site engineers (including safety and ergonomics).
Report and drive improvements across the sites through the monitoring of the key Test Engineering metrics.
Ensure the standardization of Jabil processes across the sites in accordance with the global and regional direction.
Recruitment and Retention:
Recruit, interview and hire Test Engineering team members including providing support for positions within the manufacturing facilities.
Communicate criteria to recruiters for position candidates.
Monitor team member turnover; identify key factors that can be improved; make improvements.
Employee and Team Development:
Develop and maintain all applicable job descriptions for the Regional Test Engineering.
Identify individual and team strengths and development needs on a regular basis.
Create and/or validate Test Engineering training curriculum.
Coach and mentor Regional and Site Test Engineering staff to deliver excellence to every internal and external customer.
Create and manage succession plans for key Test Engineering functions within the region.
Communication:
Provide communication forum for the exchange of ideas and information within the department.
Organize verbal and written ideas clearly and use an appropriate business style.
Ask questions; encourage input from team members.
Communicate group goals and needs clearly, on a regular basis, to the team members. Make their roles and responsibilities clear.
Assess communication style of individual team members and adapt own communication style accordingly.
Communicate key information to the sites within the region, the Regional COE team, and the Global COE Team.
FUNCTIONAL MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
Business Strategy and Direction:
Define, develop and implement a Test Engineering strategy, which contributes to the regional COE strategic directions.
Develop an understanding of the workcell business strategy as it pertains to Test.
Provide regular updates to Business Unit on the execution of the strategy.
Know and understand the strategic directions of the Global Center of Excellence, Regional Center of Excellence, Jabil Design product development teams, business development groups, and Jabil's customers.
Provide regular updates to the Regional COE Director on Strategic projects.
Establish collaboration on technology development with Jabil Business Units, Work cells, Regional members, Customers, and Suppliers.
TECHNICAL MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
Identification of best practices within test engineering community and the propagation of those practices to all sites.
Drive down overall cost of test and debug.
Facilitate regional meetings with Plant Functional Managers while coordinating plant initiatives and facilitate the sharing of best practices.
Analyze upward feedback/drive into Best Practice where appropriate.
Develop and document cookbook and reference material.
Provide education / coaching to Regional Operations and Plant Level Functional Management.
Define the most efficient processes and tools which support Jabil's business.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
Advanced PC skills, including training and knowledge of Jabil's software packages in an integrated system such as MES 4.0.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Proven track record of successful change management accomplishments, implementing and management continuous productivity and cost reduction programs.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree Electrical Engineering or related field.
6 to 8 years' experience in a relevant Jabil financial position.
At least 5 years' experience in a supervisory or management role within an accounting department.
Or a combination of education, experience and/or training.
