Basic

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution; degree preferred to be in Environmental Science, Occupational health and Safety, Engineering, or related field.
  • 3 years of relevant experience in an EHS role
  • Proficient in risk assessment
  • Ability to conduct safety audits and investigations
  • Data analysis skills
  • Capacity to work collaboratively with different departments to implement safety measures and ensure compliance across an organization
  • Minimum of two years of experience in managing and reporting on environmental programs in coordination with municipal authorities and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ)
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

Preferred

  • Completed OSHA 511 1910
  • Emergency Medical Training highly desirable (EMT-B, Medic, CPR Certification, etc.)
  • Experience in performing boots on the ground safety oversight
  • Experience with emergency response crews in incidents involving hazardous and non-hazardous material releases to air, soil and water
  • Demonstrated strong propensity for hands-on work and attention to detail.
Job Summary

This position is responsible for facilitating the implementation and maintenance of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) systems, including Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental, and Medical programs at the Howmet-Waco facility. The role ensures compliance with safety regulations, conducts audits, and provides training to promote a safe and healthy work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Waco line organization regarding Howmet Aerospace standards and procedures to achieve a zero-incident workplace.
  • Assist in implementing the EHS BU plan in accordance with the incident prevention and environmental programs.
  • Coordinate with other BU sites as needed; assist with corporate initiatives
  • Assess risk associated with manufacturing processes and act to minimize risks.
  • Determine corrective actions as a result of hazards identification.
  • Perform risk assessments.
  • Lead and/or facilitate location EHS teams as assigned.
  • Educate line organization personnel to ensure compliance with all EHS regulatory requirements and Howmet Aerospace standards.
  • Provide specialized EHS expertise and assist in developing location knowledge of EHS regulations and corporate standards.
  • Experience required in defining, obtaining, and coordinating necessary EHS reports, permits, communications, EHS self-assessments (ASATs) and FMEA program for the location.
  • Develop and update EHS written policies, procedures, programs and safe work instructions.
  • Incorporate Human Performance principles into assigned programs.
  • Develop and facilitate EHS training.
  • Assist in coordinating fire and other emergency drills.
  • Assist the EHS SPAs with their programs and lead assigned programs to meet legal and other requirements.
  • Provide a consistent presence on the production floor. Position requires boots on the ground for safety oversight.
  • Attend leadership meetings as required.
  • Review and submit EHS incidents into Incident Management System.
  • Inspects the facility for signs of non-compliance; this includes housekeeping, blockage of emergency exits, incorrect use of equipment or safety accessories, etc.
  • Ensure environmental and industrial hygiene sampling and monitoring compliance (Air, Water & Soil) including but not limited to Asbestos, Lead, Microbiological (fungi & Bacteria), IAQ, Metals, VOC's, PCB's and other materials as requested.
  • Observes contractors for non-compliance issues.
  • Application of OSHA, EPA,TECQ, NFPA, and ANSI standards.
  • Support and provide insight for projects performed within the facility.
  • Drive/provide continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor hygiene programs.
  • This position may require occasional on-call availability to address urgent issues outside of regular business hours
