Temporary Parks Events & Programs Coordinator II (Personal Services)



Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8am - 4pm. Occasional weekend and evenings will be required. Most of the work will be onsite; occasional remote work may be permitted. 

Nature of Work:

Works with and sometimes independent of the Recreation Supervisor in the development, implementation, and reflection of city events as well as community and educational programs. Work may take place at any of the Parks and Rec facilities, outdoor parks and event sites. Monitors city programs and special events to ensure compliance with Parks and Rec General Rules and specific facility rules and regulations. Other varied services may include customer service work, routine labor and light custodial work and clerical duties.

Essential Duties:

  • Assist the Recreation Supervisor in coordinating events and program logistics including scheduling, site set up, and day of implementation.
  • Collaborate with team members to refine event processes and enhance community experiences.
  • Provide excellent customer service to event and program attendees, helping to address their needs and resolve issues or concerns.
  • Assist in the loading, transportation, set up, take down and proper storage of event equipment and supplies.
  • Conduct post-event evaluations, gather feedback from the community.
  • Assist in the implementation and enforcing of safety regulations, ensuring a safe environment for all attendees.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum age requirement of 18 years old and graduation from High School or possession of GED certificate.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively.
  • Friendly, pleasant and outgoing personality suitable for working with a diverse community.
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Must obtain CPR/AED and First Aid certification within 30 days of employment. The City offers CPR/AED and First Aid classes, which are free to Parks employees. Please note, your certification must be from an organization that has been approved by the Bureau of Community and Health Systems, Child Care Licensing Division. Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience assisting with event coordination or with group activities.
  • Experience with environmental programming.

Move and lift light objects up to 50 lbs. tents, event supplies and tables. May exert up to 50 lbs of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

Set up and take down a table up to 50 lbs. without assistance on most occasions.

Might occasionally work alone for smaller events.

The ability to remain in a standing or sitting position for extended periods of time.
