  • When opportune, participates actively in client meetings with Portfolio Advisors and other members of the client-service team, including trust advisors, private bankers and/or wealth planning professionals. Develops a clear understanding of client-specific needs, preferences and expectations. Engages in pro-active client outreach as appropriate and as business needs warrant.

  • Monitors Portfolio Advisors' books of business in their absence and takes follow-up steps as appropriate.

  • Develops and exhibits fluency in Northern Trust's holistic "Goals Driven Wealth Management" (GDWM) financial-planning and asset-allocation modeling methodology and deliverables. Assists in client-specific GDWM data gathering, processing and presentation.

  • Develops and demonstrates an in-depth understanding of Northern Trust Wealth Management's investment philosophy, process and platform, and investment-fulfillment vehicles and strategies. Develops an ability to articulate and present market trends and developments and portfolio positioning effectively in client meetings.

  • Develops and exhibits a solid knowledge base of fiduciary, trust and tax rules and their investment implications in the context of tax-aware investing.

  • Demonstrates fluency in navigating Wealth Management's securities trading system and processes, including pertaining to diligent trade execution within stated guidelines, policies and risk-management parameters.

  • Demonstrates proficiency in all relevant Investment Practice systems and applications.

  • Assists in special projects and team assignments as requested. Collaborates with peers and colleagues in a supportive work setting.

Successful candidates would benefit from having:

  • An undergraduate degree in Finance, Economics or Business

  • One to three years of relevant work experience in the following industries: wealth management or investment services

  • Knowledge of investment products, services and terminology, usually obtained through prior experience, academic studies or extracurricular activities. Competency in the understanding of financial markets and market trends.

  • Passion and curiosity for investments and investing.

  • Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills
