Senior Manager – Trade Compliance Americas (Project Management)



What you will do

We are hiring for Senior Manager-Americas Trade Compliance role which will be remote with occasional travel in the US and Mexico. You would be responsible for leading and managing the execution, continuous improvement, and risk mitigation for the Clarios Global Trade Compliance Program within the Americas region. This role ensures compliance with all relevant regional trade (import/export) regulations, trade laws, sanctions, and customs requirements. The Senior Manager will spearhead initiatives to standardize trade compliance processes, maintain compliance with duty deferment programs, and reduce compliance risks. Additionally, this role will be pivotal in developing and implementing training programs, conducting internal audits, and managing external audits.

How you will do it

  • Implementing key global trade compliance policies, standards and work instructions into the region.
  • Confirming alignment between business operations and applicable trade regulations, customs requirements, trade sanctions and related laws and regulations.
  • Performing in-house audits, ensuring all records are correct, including maintenance of required record keeping requirements.
  • Providing training and support for the trade team and other business functions.
  • Ensuring products are classified, valuation is correct, and country of origin is determined according to trade laws and  regulations.
  • Understanding and applying trade laws and regulations within the Americas region.
  • Analyzing and interpreting government regulations, policy and requirements for compliance as they relate to customs laws and regulations, export control laws and regulations, and sanctions from applicable countries.
  • Monitor, analyze and report on regional trade compliance performance metrics, trade data reporting, duty avoidance and savings.

What we look for

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in international business, supply chain, or other related disciplines.
  • At least 7+ years of trade compliance or trade operations related work experience required, preferably in a multinational corporate environment,
  • Strong understanding of import/customs and export controls regulations, harmonized tariff system, customs valuation rules, and Incoterms.
  • Ability to lead initiatives, manage projects, and work as part of a project team.
  • Ability to travel up to 20%

Preferred

  • Bi-lingual in Spanish or Portuguese is a plus.
