The Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of South Florida is seeking a dynamic and experienced physician to serve as the Medical Director of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT). This is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the clinical and operational efficiency of the HBOT study. The Medical Director will ensure high standards of patient care, compliance with regulatory guidelines, and alignment with institutional goals for innovation, research, and education. The ideal candidate is board certified in a relevant specialty (e.g., Emergency Medicine, Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine) with formal training and certification in hyperbaric medicine. They will bring a strong clinical background, proven leadership skills, and a passion for advancing the field through evidence-based practice, interdisciplinary collaboration, and program development. The Medical Director will also play a critical role in mentoring clinical staff, driving quality improvement initiatives, contributing to research, and representing the HBOT program within the broader medical community. This is an exciting opportunity for a visionary leader to shape and expand a high-impact service that supports complex patient populations and cutting-edge research.MINIMUM: \n Doctoral degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. For Associate/Full Professor - Normally will have produced creative work, professional writing or research in refereed and other professional journals, and be a recognized authority in the field of specialization. \n Must be board certified in Emergency Medicine and fellowship trained and board certified or board eligible in Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine. Must have formal training and certification in hyperbaric medicine. Grow Here .ADMINISTRATIVE -The medical director of HBOT will provide and ensure training to study staff involved in the use of hyperbaric oxygen therapy and monitor study team credentials for HBOT throughout the study duration. The medical director will provide protocol development services regarding appropriate HBOT therapy as well as specific emergency protocols in case of adverse events. The medical director will work closely with the PI (HVL) to ensure participant and staff safety during the study duration. Develop a nationally competitive research program with continued extramural funding, peer-reviewed publications, and collaboration with other faculty part of the HBOT program. \n Responsible to a Chair or other appropriate higher-level administrator of a State university. Responsible for teaching, research, service, and related administrative activities. Responsible for academic advising and related activities. May represent the university, college/school, or department.
