DC Systems Administrator (Healthcare)



Under minimal supervision, operates, monitors and maintains Distribution Center systems and equipment through server applications, electro-mechanical hardware/software and observation. Provides timely communication with Facilities, Maintenance, IS, and external contractors on any irregular functions or diagnosis of Distribution Center systems. Responsible for making business critical decisions and updating the Distribution Centers leadership staff on progress and delays. Sources technical equipment; dealing with all outside suppliers and acts as a resource to the Business when sourcing such equipment. Responsible for continuous improvement in systems operation, energy management and operational through-put.

Position Analysis:
• Act as a Subject Matter Expert for a wide variety of material handling systems, automation, and electronics equipment for the Lands' End distribution network.
• Work with suppliers and in-house Maintenance and Engineering resources to manage the installation and implementation of new equipment.
• Serve as the troubleshooting expert and technical resource during equipment escalations. Coordinate resources to quickly resolve equipment downtime. Responsible for working with system administrators to resolve any 2nd level issues.
• Maintain comprehensive technical subject matter expertise of existing Lands' End material handling systems and technology specifications. This include varying types of package and bulk conveyors, sortation systems, barcode scanners, print and apply labelers, and associated software.
• Assess and modify systems where system performance does not meet Operation's expectations and design specifications in close partnership with Operations.
• Supports all other Distribution Center software applications as well as monitors all hardware needs.
• Acts as liaison between Distribution Center and IT. Assists IT by installing and maintaining software applications and hardware needs within the Distribution Centers.

Required Skills:

  • Install, modify, and make necessary repairs to computer hardware and software systems, providing technical assistance and training to system users
  • Perform hands-on repairs at desktop level, including installing and upgrading software, installing hardware, monitoring nightly backups, and configuring systems and applications
  • Experience in Electrical Engineering or related technical disciplines with a control's emphasis;
  • Experience with and knowledge of material handling systems, systems integration, and maintenance.
  • Previous experience in disassembling machinery, analyzing defective parts and using diagnostic skills to make repairs to continue operations.
  • Mechanical aptitude, able to absorb technical and mechanical information quickly.
    Excellent communication skills demonstrated in verbal, written and listening form.
    Proficient in Office (Word, Excel and Outlook).
