A Day in the Life:

We are seeking a visionary and experienced leader to join us as the Senior Director of Commercial Excellence and Operations and will report to the Head of Americas, Diabetes. In this influential role, you will spearhead the strategic and operational initiatives that empower the sales organization within Medtronic's Diabetes Operating Unit across the Americas region. Your focus will be on sales operations support, sales training, sales force optimization, and driving operational excellence to achieve business objectives. As a thought partner to the Head of the Americas and the Americas Leadership Team, you will drive organizational excellence and goal attainment. You'll leverage insights and analytics to guide decisions, optimize resources, and foster a high-performance culture.

The preferred location of the role is at HQ in Northridge, CA (LA Metro-area), San Antonio, TX or Duluth, GA (Atlanta Metro-area).

Key Responsibilities

Operational Strategy Development:

  • Develop and implement operational strategies to enhance sales performance and efficiency.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement solutions to optimize operations.

Sales Enablement Leadership and Support:

  • Provide comprehensive operational support to the sales team, including CRM management, analytics, and reporting.
  • Ensure seamless integration and adoption execution of sales processes across the commercial organization.
  • Lead efforts to optimize technology for a more efficient and productive commercial organization. Assess current capabilities, guide future choices, and collaborate with related departments to execute the optimal design.

Sales Training:

  • Collaborate with sales leadership to design and implement effective field and inside sales training programs.
  • Evaluate training outcomes and continuously improve programs to enhance sales skills and knowledge.
  • Collaborate with market leaders in Canada and Latin America to ensure sales training is optimized and effective for all customer facing roles.

Sales Force Optimization:

  • Analyze sales force data to identify areas for improvement and optimize resource allocation across customer-facing roles.
  • Implement strategies to maximize sales team productivity and effectiveness.
  • Continuously assess productivity and efficacy of the sales teams and make recommendations for improvements as needed.

Operational Excellence:

  • Drive initiatives to achieve operational excellence, focusing on quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
  • Monitor and assess operational performance, making adjustments to meet strategic goals.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Partner with marketing, finance, and product teams to support sales initiatives and align business strategies.
  • Collaborate with the transformation office to develop and execute initiatives to drive performance and efficiency.
  • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration across departments.

Team Leadership:

  • Lead and develop a high-performing sales operations team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Mentor and support team members in achieving professional growth and success.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations Management, or a related field (MBA highly preferred).
  • 15+ years of experience in sales operations or business operations within the medical device industry
  • Proven track record in sales operations support, training, and optimization.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with 10+ years of managerial experience; and
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication abilities.

Skills and Competencies

  • Expertise in CRM systems and sales operations processes.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on collaboration and teamwork.
  • Proven seniority, comfortable in interactions with senior leadership levels (up to C-suite).

The provided base salary range is used nationally in the United States (except in Puerto Rico). Base pay is based on numerous factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, etc.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$200,800.00 - $301,200.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

This position is eligible for an annual long-term incentive plan.

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance , Health Savings Account , Healthcare Flexible Spending Account , Life insurance, Long-term disability leave , Dependent daycare spending account , Tuition assistance/reimbursement , and Simple Steps (global well-being program).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to all regular employees: Incentive plans, 401(k) plan plus employer contribution and match , Short-term disability , Paid time off , Paid holidays , Employee Stock Purchase Plan , Employee Assistance Program , Non-qualified Retirement Plan Supplement (subject to IRS earning minimums) , and Capital Accumulation Plan (available to Vice Presidents and above, or subject to IRS earning minimums).
