Product Developer I - HOKA Footwear (Finance)

Job Title: Product Developer I - HOKA Footwear

Reports to: Sr. Product Development Manager - HOKA Footwear

Location: Portland, OR - In-Office

The Role

As a Product Developer I for HOKA, you will drive the footwear product creation process from the initial product brief and design stage through prototyping, sales samples, and the timely approval of production confirmation samples. Your role will involve managing project timelines, leading key gate sample reviews, and facilitating cross-functional communication and collaboration with key stakeholders. You will ensure that all projects meet brand and consumer needs, manufacturing and performance requirements, and costing targets. Your continuous improvement efforts will ensure the delivery of quality products for our consumers.

Your Impact

  • Set up and lead weekly project team meetings to review product briefs, design details, material and color CADs, samples, factory product tear-down notes, costing information, and wear-test feedback.
  • Partner with Design, Product Management, Asia Dev-Com, and Factory teammates through the development and sampling process via initial tech-packs, email communication, and video conferencing calls while adhering to the product creation calendar to ensure on-time delivery of key gate samples and ultimately on-time product confirmation.
  • Lead product team through sample review process by evaluating technical project details related to upper patterning, 2D/3D tooling drawings, manufacturing processes, cost breakdowns, materials, and product test reports to provide recommendations to the project team on next steps.
  • Drive fit test validation process, assist in evaluating wear test reports, and interpret wear test feedback at each key gate to inform product decisions.
  • Utilize Flex PLM system for product data and document management, Bill of Materials (BOM) creation/maintenance, sample orders, and product confirmation (ready to buy).
  • Assist in samples management, storage, and organization.

Who You Are

  • Bachelor's Degree or relevant work experience
  • 3+ years' experience in the footwear industry
  • Experience in building footwear product specifications
  • Understanding of material applications for product use
  • General knowledge of footwear development and manufacturing processes, product creation calendars, and product constructions
  • Proficient in various Microsoft Applications, FlexPLM, or similar PLM systems
  • Ability to work in a multi-tasked, fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work in a complex global organization with competing deadlines and priorities
  • Ability to effectively prepare and present information and respond to questions from management and cross-functional teammates
  • A self-starter with proficient problem-solving abilities
  • Effective communicator
  • Exceptional attention to detail
