Plant Engineer (Finance)



Position Overview: This Engineering Professional position is for a Plant Engineer role in the Linde Southeast Louisiana Enclave and will be assigned as a Plant Engineer to the HyCO production facilities in the Sulphur Plant, Westlake Plant and Carlyss PSA, all of which produce hydrogen. This position will report to the Technical Manager. Reporting Relationship: The successful candidate will report to the Technical Manager and work closely with the facility manager and staff to solve technical problems, deliver productivity savings, and sustain safe, reliable, low-cost production operations. The Engineering Specialist's Responsibilities Include: - Process safety stewardship in all aspects; change management, hazard analysis and abnormal situation management, etc. - Mentor and support the development of operations and maintenance personnel, and HyTOP engineers. - Deliver and support of cost saving initiatives to accomplish productivity targets. - Providing technical support to plant operations and maintenance, and turnaround organization in the optimization of plant operations. - Active support and participation in driving reliability initiatives through root cause analysis, idea generation and small project execution. Other Requirements Include: - Flexibility in work schedule to support operations during startup, shutdown, turnaround or unplanned events. - Able to work in confined spaces and at elevated levels. - Able to travel up to 10% of the time. Qualifications: - Bachelor or Master's degree in mechanical or chemical engineering. - BS + 2 / MS + 1 year of experience in an engineering role preferably in a manufacturing environment. - Must have strong technical skills including knowledge of practical application of Process Safety procedures such as PHA, MOC, and RCA. - Must have a positive attitude, be willing to quickly adapt to changing situations, have strong communications skills, and a strong will to build and maintain productive relationships across departmental lines. - Must be able and willing to adapt to a work schedule that coincides with plant operational needs. Must also be able and willing to work for extended periods of time in an operating plant under various environmental conditions. Must also be able and willing to work inside of confined spaces. - Must be a self-starter and have the ability to work independently as well as to lead and participate on cross-functional teams. - Must be willing to carry a laptop computer and cell phone for occasional use during off hours. - Must be able to manage multiple priorities, drive issues to completion, and obtain results. - Must be detail-oriented with an ability and desire to persevere. - Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
