Senior Analyst, SHE (Safety & Health) (Finance)

ABOUT THE ROLE

AS the Senior Analyst, SHE (Safety & Health) you will support site-level deployment of SC Johnson's Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) management practices to ensure compliance with local legal requirements and SCJ global standards. This individual will have a slight focus on industrial hygiene and will collaborate with managers, supervisors and shop-floor employees to identify, evaluate and control occupational exposures. While this role requires, safety, health and environmental technical knowledge and experience, success is equally dependent on developing and supporting "champions" within the site to drive day-to-day ownership for SHE.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintains the site's qualitative industrial hygiene risk assessment tool to identify and prioritize exposure to occupational health hazards that can result in harm. Identifies and tracks completion of risk reduction activities.
  • Manages processes associated with the use of third-party industrial hygiene service providers including completion of technical reviews for all draft reports. Works with site, regional and/or global SHE partners to ensure timely implementation of applicable recommendations.
  • Collaborates with the site's engineering and maintenance teams to ensure that inspections, testing, preventive maintenance activities associated with SHE-critical equipment - including local exhaust ventilation and combustible gas detection systems - are defined and appropriately documented.
  • Maintains site Safety Data Sheet (SDS) inventory
  • Supports managers and supervisors in effective shop-floor implementation of SCJ's safety, health and environmental standards.
  • Partners with assigned stakeholders to drive timely, effective closure of identified SHE-related corrective and preventive actions.
  • Supports deployment and maintenance of training processes to ensure that required safety, health and environmental training is defined, addresses required content and is tracked to completion.
  • Supports stakeholder utilization of SCJ's Management of Change (MOC) process to evaluate and manage potential health and safety hazards and environmental impacts associated with business activity changes.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE YOU'LL BRING

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Fire Protection, Environmental Science, Engineering or related discipline preferred or military experience may be considered in lieu of degree requirement
  • 2-3 years of SHE technical responsibility in a global manufacturing organization
  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States

PREFERRED EXPERIENCES AND SKILLS

  • Experience in high-hazard chemical process safety management (PSM) like the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration PSM standard or European Seveso Directive preferred.
  • Experience managing radiation and laser safety programs preferred.
  • Experience in driving day-to-day ownership of SHE processes to non-SHE program "champions" preferred.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills to clearly and concisely present information to stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to effectively interact with others, establishing open, candid and trusting relationships to create win/win outcomes
  • Certified Industrial Hygiene (CIH) certification preferred
  • Working knowledge of ACGIH/ASHRAE standards

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Full-time core office hours with expectation to be available for occasional nights/weekends
  • Up to 10% domestic travel may be required
  • Work in an office environment will be approximately 50% of time
  • Work in a manufacturing environment will be approximately 50% of time
  • This position is not eligible for remote work
