Occupational Therapist (Healthcare)



POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION TITLE: Occupational Therapist

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Valid PA Occupational Therapist License
2. Valid Occupational Therapy Degree
3. Pediatric school based experience preferred.
4. Excellent organizational skills, initiative, and an ability to work with limited supervision.
5. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
6. Self-motivator, independent, cooperative, flexible, creative, and responsible.
7. Ability and experience working as a member of a team.
8. Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office Suite including Word, PowerPoint, Access, Excel and Outlook, and willingness to experiment and work with new technologies.
 

REPORTS TO: AIU OT/PT Program Administrator

PERFORMANCE ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Screen and evaluate students to determine eligibility for school based occupational therapy services.
2. Assist in the development and writing of comprehensive evaluation reports, re-evaluation reports and IEPs following required formats and compliance timelines.
3. Attend, participate in, and/or review information to discuss results of required evaluations and IEP reports.
4. Schedule students effectively, efficiently to receive occupational therapy services.
5. Implement individual, group, classroom, consultative services as appropriate to meet the needs of students in their educational programs.
6. Utilize best practices; evidence based research, and appropriate materials to implement therapeutic services.
7. Consult with educational and other therapy staff and parents regarding occupational therapy needs and services in school.
8. Maintain working student files in accordance with department procedures.
9. Complete all documentation within required timelines.
10. Prepare and complete ACCESS billing for eligible students.
11. Monitor and document student progress based on data collection information.
12. Submit current treatment schedules and updates as needed to administration.
13. Ensure and maintain student confidentiality and protect student data in accordance with HIPAA/FERPA regulations and AIU policy.
14. Demonstrate familiarity with use of email, word documents, excel, and online IEP writing systems as required.
15. Advise AIU administrative staff of caseload trends, district needs, and specific student concerns in a timely manner.
16. Provide supervision to occupational therapy assistants in delivery of services to students in accordance with practice act and licensure laws.
17. Attend staff meetings, in-services, and serve on staff committees as required.
