Warehouse Manager (Construction) (Administrative)



Pay Rate: $22.00 per hour

Position Purpose

Efficiently deliver and maintain a highly organized Warehouse for maximum efficiency and utilization while adhering to OSHA/HFHCR safety protocols.  Provide availability of materials to the field construction staff, allowing for the smooth, uninterrupted execution of building schedules.  Coordination of ordering, delivery and usage of material, In-kind donations as well as purchased inventory items that flow through the warehouse.

Essential Functions

Warehouse Development

  • Create, document and maintain a detailed Warehouse Operations & Procedure Manual to include staff, emergency plans, safety requirements, procedures, tutorials, safety, security, opening/closing procedures
  • Create, document, and adhere to a daily Operations Schedule for warehouse cleaning, Monthly/Quarterly/Semi-Annual/Annual services for Equipment maintenance, Dock Doors, etc.
  • Manage lease stipulations and compliance

Warehouse Management

  • Conduct/Report on Monthly Physical Inventory
  • Maintain OSHA & HFHCR Safety Compliance
  • Research and Recommend Best In Class Warehouse Management Practices
  • Adhere to Habitat's inventory control for all materials
  • Inspect all incoming deliveries for defective or damaged materials; manage return process with Supplier
  • File, track, update New Construction, Existing Homes, CHR orders through HFHI Gift-In-kind
  • Train Warehouse and Field Staff in warehouse procedures
  • Coordinate recycling programs for LEED, asphalt shingles, cardboard, wood pallets as necessary
  • Cultivate and maintain a positive working relationship with office and field staff
  • Warehouse facility maintenance and security
  • Maintain/Update all sources of Material Safety Data Sheets/Handling in accordance with OSHA Regulations & HFHCR
  • Will spend half to one day a week, day of week to be determined by procurement manager, for staging roofing orders, other support of maintenance as assigned or required

Inventory/Management System (Vend)

  • Complete monthly full inventory counts including reconciliation of missing/ misassigned products
  • Pull and prepare monthly reports for the Finance team as directed by Accounting
  • Review sales in the system daily to ensure accurate recordation of sales

Ordering/Restocking/Receiving Management

  • Order GIK product through Habitat International such as appliances and electrical supplies.
  • Work with Procurement Manager on strategy for purchasing product in order to use our funds effectively.
  • Receive orders in Vend
  • Maintain clear documentation of orders to ease the communication concerning the warehouse inventory with Accounting
  • Communicate and organize receiving of materials with suppliers

Day-to-Day Operations

  • Ensure warehouse is up to safety standards, as set by yourself, the Procurement Manager, and the Director of New Construction
  • Communicate and enforce safety standards with staff and volunteers in the warehouse space.
  • Ensure shelving and individual items are optimized for space and inventory is controlled. Ensure warehouse is ready for upcoming orders based on guidance from Procurement Manager
  • Train construction staff on warehouse procedures when requested and/or as needed

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Five years of experience in warehouse management preferred
  • Familiarity with Inventory Control Systems and scanning technology
  • Demonstrated ability to problem-solve and make informed decisions that comply with policy and procedure
  • Ability to assume a leadership role, as well as a team member role, in a professional environment
  • Ability to apply principles of logical thinking to a wide range of practical problems
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Cultivate and maintain a positive working relationship with office and field staff

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has supervisory responsibilities and will directly manage and coach the Warehouse Assistant(s). At times, the Warehouse Manager will be responsible for leading a team of Construction Assistants and Volunteers at construction sites across the affiliate service area.

Work Environment

This position will require working in a warehouse environment without climate control. At times the Warehouse Manager will be expected to work primarily outdoors, exposed to heat and cold as well as inclement weather.

  • Ability to sit at a desk and use a computer for extended periods of time
  • Ability to be on your feet for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Ability to climb ladders and moveable stairs
