Weekend Anchor/MMJ, KMGH (Media)
KMGH, the E.W. Scripps Company ABC affiliate in Denver, Colorado is looking for a weekend anchor and MMJ to join our morning team. The perfect person for this role loves to report and will actively seek out ways to bring their experience as a journalist to the desk and to the field every day. You should be a natural leader who is excited to help shape the shows, by working with the producer and your co-anchor to find fresh new content every weekend morning. And when you're working for the weekday shows, you'll bring a list of well-researched pitches along with ideas of how to demonstrate viewer benefit for each story. While you will have the opportunity to work with photojournalists regularly, you should also be eager to grab elements on your own to help move the next day's story forward.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Anchor the newscast.
Research, gather, write, and develop news content for multiple platforms.
May report live on location from various news events.
Perform various community service activities for station, including performing as master of ceremonies for public service events and as host/hostess for station events.
Perform other duties as needed and assigned.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
Bachelors degree in related discipline preferred or equivalent years of experience
Generally, 3+ years on camera experience preferred.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
Must connect on camera with a sense of urgency3
Ability to cultivate sources and mine stories
Knowledge of newsroom computers and computer databases strongly preferred
Must demonstrate strong news judgment and organizational skills
Must have keen sense of logistics and ability to work well under intense pressure and deadlines
Must have good creative and editorial judgment, mastery of journalistic ethics, and libel law
Must be able to speak clearly and concisely
Valid driver's license, good driving record, and ability to provide proof of insurance with the company required insurance limits.
