Regional HSE Leader – Americas (Project Management)

Your Role: Regional HSE Leader – Americas

As the Americas Regional HSE Leader, you will be part of the Global Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Team and will own delivery of integrated and effective HSE management systems across the Americas region. In this role, you'll be responsible for advancing and overseeing HSE performance within the Americas, managing key global business processes for the HSE function, and providing HSE leadership and mentorship across all areas of Elanco's value chain (Manufacturing, R&D, Commercial and general administrative areas). Additionally, you may lead global support of areas such as: emergency management, acquisitions/divestitures, and Global HSE IT projects.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Drive Regional HSE Performance: Lead and influence HSE performance and priorities across the Americas region, collaborating with business networks to achieve strategic objectives. Identify, evaluate, and disseminate best practices to drive continuous improvement.

  • Collaborate with Regional Stakeholders: Partner with regional manufacturing sites, EEM operations, and affiliate offices to address complex HSE challenges, provide technical expertise, and foster a culture of shared learning.

  • Mentor and Develop HSE Teams: Provide mentorship and training to site HSE organizations, fostering a strong safety culture and enhancing technical expertise.

  • Oversee HSE Planning and Risk Management: Participate in the development and review of HSE plans and risk portfolios, ensuring alignment with regional and global strategies.

  • Monitor Regulatory Landscape: Stay informed of emerging regulatory developments and influence HSE strategies to maintain compliance and mitigate potential risks.

  • Manage HSE Governance: Oversee the HSE governance process, ensuring effective communication and data flow between senior management, sites, and the HSE function.

What You Need to Succeed (minimum qualifications):

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in HSE or related field 

  • Experience: A minimum of 10 years of experience in HSE or related field, including HSE leadership experience

  • Top Skills: Possess strong technical expertise in HSE coupled with exceptional coaching and mentoring abilities, enabling effective influence and guidance across multiple levels of the organization.

  • Exceptional Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing and presentation expertise, coupled with the ability to provide constructive feedback and build strong customer relationships.

  • Collaborative Leadership and Problem-Solving: Proven ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks, demonstrating strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within diverse teams.

  • Proactive and Results-Oriented: A self-starter with strong self-management skills, demonstrating a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to achieving sustainable improvements.

  • Strategic Application of HSE Standards: Expertise in interpreting and applying HSE standards to diverse operational contexts, tailoring solutions to meet specific customer needs and driving impactful results.

  • Team Leadership and Mentorship: Proven ability to achieve results through effective guidance, mentorship, and support to empower team members and maximize their potential.

Additional Information:

  • Travel: 15-25%

  • Location: Global Elanco Headquarters - Indianapolis, IN - Hybrid Work Environment
