    Position: Graduate Research Intern – Robotics Integration & Software Development

    Level: Master's student (Robotics / Mechanical / Electrical Engineering or related)

    Hours: 10–20 hrs / week (July 14 – Aug 24 2025)

    Role summary

    Join our robotics group to drive integration and software development for advanced manipulation systems. You will couple kinematic, mechanic, and physics-based models with real-time control on ROS-based platforms.

    Key responsibilities

    Develop and refine kinematic, dynamic, and physics models for robotic manipulators and end-effectors. Implement real-time simulation, planning, and control pipelines in ROS 2 on Linux. Design and execute experiments to validate modeling accuracy and controller performance. Integrate sensors / actuators and collaborate with hardware engineers during bench and field tests. Document architecture, code, and experimental results for internal reports and external publications.

    Required qualifications

    • Enrolled in an M.S. program in Robotics, ME, EE, or CE.
    • Solid understanding of rigid-body kinematics/dynamics and numerical methods.
    • Proficiency in C++ and/or Python under Linux.
    • Hands-on experience with ROS or ROS 2 and at least one robotics/physics simulator (e.g., Gazebo, Isaac Sim).

    Preferred skills

    • Real-time control frameworks.
    • Familiarity with robot manipulation planning or force-controlled tasks.
    • Git, CI/CD, and test-driven development.

    Position: Undergraduate Research Assistant – Robotics Software Deployment & Infrastructure

    Level: Junior/Senior undergraduate (Robotics / Mechanical / Electrical / Computer Engineering)

    Hours: 15–20 hrs / week (July 14 – Aug 24 2025)

    Role summary

    Support the deployment, testing, and maintenance of ROS-based manipulation software, focusing on build infrastructure, containerization, and experiment setup.

    Key responsibilities

    Set up and maintain Linux development environments (Docker, VS Code Remote, etc.). Build and troubleshoot ROS 2 workspaces for embedded and desktop targets. Assist with sensor/actuator bring-up and verify system operation in lab and field trials. Automate data logging and basic post-processing for experiments. Contribute clear documentation, how-to guides, and participate in code reviews.

    Required qualifications

    • Enrolled in a B.S. program in a relevant engineering field.
    • Comfortable with Linux command line and shell scripting.
    • Coursework or project experience in C++ or Python.
    • Exposure to ROS or similar middleware (course, club, or personal project).

    Preferred skills

    • Basic understanding of control loops and coordinate frames.
    • Experience with Git and issue-tracking tools.
    • Interest in mechatronics, embedded systems, or networking.
