Position Overview

Step into a vital leadership role, responsible for the quarry's day-to-day operations. You'll coordinate with the Quarry Superintendent and Maintenance Foreman to ensure smooth operations, quality control, and effective scheduling of maintenance. Your expertise will drive production efficiency, uphold safety standards, and foster a positive work environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Champion and maintain a safe workplace for yourself and your team members.
  • Lead by example in adhering to company policies and all OSHA/MSHA regulations.
  • Oversee daily maintenance and coordinate major repairs with the maintenance team.
  • Communicate issues promptly to the Superintendent, Safety Manager, or HR Manager.
  • Motivate, schedule, and supervise quarry personnel; manage time and attendance.
  • Train team members in equipment operation, servicing, and minor repairs to build cross-functional expertise.
  • Step in to assist with hands-on labor when needed, demonstrating commitment to collective success.
  • Maintain reliable and regular attendance for consistent operations.
  • Contribute to other duties as assigned, growing your skillset and value to the team.

Preferred Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Two years of related quarry or industrial experience and/or training preferred.

Requirements
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Pass pre-employment physical, drug screening, and a criminal background check.
  • Demonstrate strict adherence to safety policies and procedures as outlined in our Employee Handbook.
  • Display a team-oriented mindset and willingness to support colleagues and supervisors.
  • Flexibility to travel and work away from home as necessary.
  • Availability for night and weekend shifts when required.
  • Commitment to wearing PPE (Face Shield, Hard Toe Safety Shoes, Coveralls) in designated areas as mandated by OSHA/MSHA.

Knowledge & Skills
  • Solid understanding of materials, methods, and tools involved in plant maintenance.
  • Ability to read, write, and perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Capacity to use equipment and tools properly and safely.
  • Proven ability to work effectively and efficiently with others.

Physical Demands
  • Stand, walk, use hands and fingers to manipulate objects or controls, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, and hear regularly.
  • Occasionally sit for extended periods.
  • Vision requirements (with correction) include close, distance, peripheral, depth, and adjustment of focus.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work at heights.
  • Occasionally lift/move objects up to 50 lbs.
  • Adapt to extended hours, all weather conditions, and tight spaces as needed.

Work Environment
  • Exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and occasionally toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • Work near moving mechanical parts, at heights, outdoors in various weather, and around electrical risk.
  • Noise levels may range from moderate to loud in some areas.
  • This is a safety-sensitive position, always requiring vigilance and responsibility.
