Patient Intake Coordinator - Critical Care Transport 7P-7A (Finance)



Nemours Children's Hospital in Orlando, FL is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Patient Intake Coordinator to join our Orlando Transfer Center Team. In this critical role, you will please a pivotal part in ensuring that our young patients receive seamless care coordination and support throughout their healthcare journey.

A patient intake coordinator, under the direction of the Director of Transport and Transfer Center, will assess, determine, and coordinate placement of all admissions (elective and emergent) and transfers through KidAdmit in accordance with clinical standards and guidelines. Ensure patients are placed in clinically appropriate level of care via established algorithms and protocols. Upholds standards of customer service program.

Position Responsibilities

  • Coordinate patient placement activities via KidAdmit line in the Transfer Center to optimize patient flow, patient outcomes, admission appropriateness, and cost efficiencies in support of organizational strategic initiatives while working with patient flow supervisor, physicians and nursing staff.
  • Maintain assigned databases.
  • Collaborate in collection of data for identification and resolution of flow issues.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret outcome data systematically to identify problem areas and assess need for improvement and/or support changes in hospital processes in relations with Transfer Center.
  • Prepare periodic reports as directed.
  • Participate actively and contribute to organizational initiatives that impact patient flow.
  • Support continuous performance and quality improvement.
  • Communicate openly with appropriate leadership team to ensure knowledge of key decision factors.
  • Serve as expert clinical resource for patient placement by ensuring smooth functioning of the KidAdmit line in the Transfer Center process to reduce wait times and avoid unnecessary patient movements.
  • Maintains positive working relationship and demonstrates excellent customer services skills in all interactions between Transfer Center and physicians, internal customers, and external customers.
  • Work collaboratively with Dispatch Center personnel to facilitate transport of patients into the hospital.
  • Empower, promote, and develop team members by fostering an environment that promotes professional development and problem-solving, maintaining and enhancing knowledge of current issues and integrating ideas into practice.
  • Assist with Transfer Center hiring process.
  • Perform other job-related duties within the job scope as requested by Director.

Position Requirements
  • MSN preferred; if master's degree is not in nursing, applicants must have a ASN**
  • Current, active, & unencumbered Registered Nurse license in the State of Florida required upon hire required
  • National Certification in Nursing Clinical Specialty
  • Minimum of 6 months experience required
  • American Heart Association BLS and PALS required upon hire
  • ASN required; If RN does not have a bachelor's or higher graduate degree in nursing, the RN is required to make steady progress to achieving a BSN or graduate degree in nursing (Progress is defined as enrolled in an accredited BSN program or graduate degree in nursing program and completing courses each year)."
