Safety Coordinator (Engineering)
Baldor Transportation Safety professionals work in partnership with our Operations, Transportation, Human Resources, Facilities, Sanitation, Safety/Security and Food Safety teams. Under the direction of Baldor Management, these employees help support safety initiatives for our drivers and other transportation personnel for all Baldor locations.
The Transportation Safety Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day record keeping processes that encompass accident & injury reporting, tracking, file creation, litigation & subrogation. The TSC will also assist in driver onboarding, training, & coaching. The TSC will work with the Transportation Safety Supervisor in assisting with the implementation of key performance objectives & strategic planning.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure that all Transportation Accident & Injury Reports are completed in a timely fashion
- Create paper & digital accident files in accordance with company & DOT guidelines
- Update yearly accident & Injury trackers
- Communicate both within Baldor & to third party vendors accident & injury information
- Input claims through our insurance provider, both for at fault & not at fault accidents
- Prepare subrogation folder & initiate subrogation for Not at fault accidents
- Maintain online training tracker (quarterly)
- Assist in maintaining Safety bonus tracker (quarterly)
- Provide administrative support to meet prescribed productivity & safety goals
- Ensure the successful completion of all accident files
- Point of contact for satellite Baldor hubs for accident & injury reporting
- Assist in any other Transportation Safety related areas, as assigned by Supervisor & Regional Transportation Safety Manager
- Review telematic events and assign driver names
- Complete daily end-of-day reports outlining what reports are not completed and what specifically is outstanding
- Send daily accident and injury reports to management each evening
- Track training activities for newly hired drivers as part of the training program
- Assist in orientation for new drivers by reviewing safety procedures and protocols in case of incidents
- Maintain an online schedule for driver trainers and ensure the required trainer deliverables are completed on-time
Requirements:
- Strong documentation experience
- Strong interpersonal & communication skills
- High level attention to detail, organizational skills & multi-tasking skills
- Experience working in a fast paced ever changing environment
- Ability to learn how to utilize department specific software systems (SPW, SMG, Travelers)
- Prior experience in supporting a Transportation Safety function
- Must be able to multi-task and work independently as well as contribute to the overall success of the team
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- 1-3 years in Transportation and/or Transportation Safety experience
- Knowledge of DOT rules and regulation
Technology Skills:
- Microsoft Office software (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint, OneDrive, etc.)
- Video conferencing software Microsoft Teams
- Knowledge of Microsoft D365 & High Jump
- Proficient in analytics, data management, pivot tables, formulas
- Strong time management skills
Work Environment:
- Able to walk and stand for long hours
- Must be able to bend, lift, twist, and climb stairs
- Must be able to lift at least 25 lbs
- Ability to work flexible hours including some weekend hours
- Bilingual speaker (English & Spanish)
