Trailer Shop Supervisor *2nd Shift* (Transportation)

The 2nd Shift Trailer Shop Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all trailer maintenance and repair operations during the second shift. This position ensures equipment is safe, compliant, and road-ready while leading a skilled team of technicians and mechanics. The ideal candidate is a problem-solver, communicator, and motivator with a strong background in trailer maintenance and team supervision.

Key Responsibilities

Supervise and coordinate daily activities of trailer technicians on 2nd shift.
Schedule and assign repair and maintenance work based on priority and skill level.
Ensure all trailer work is completed according to DOT regulations, company standards, and safety guidelines.
Monitor and maintain shop inventory, tools, and parts to support efficient workflow.
Conduct quality control checks on completed work.
Maintain accurate maintenance records in the shop management system.
Train, coach, and mentor team members for performance and development.
Promote and enforce safety culture and protocols at all times.
Communicate with internal departments including Fleet Operations and Safety to coordinate equipment availability.
Assist with diagnosing complex mechanical issues and provide hands-on support when needed.


Qualifications

3+ years of experience in trailer or heavy-duty vehicle maintenance.
1+ year in a leadership or supervisory role preferred.
Strong knowledge of trailer systems including brakes, electrical, suspension, and structural repair.
Familiarity with DOT regulations and preventive maintenance standards.
Ability to read technical manuals and repair instructions.
Effective communication and leadership skills.
Strong organizational and decision-making abilities.
Computer proficiency with maintenance tracking systems is a plus.
High school diploma or GED required, technical certifications a plus.
