Research Assistant I - Neurology (Biobank) (Finance)
POSITION KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Conducts research activities, under general direction, according to research. Research activities may include some or all of the following: patient screening and recruiting including obtaining consent, drawing blood from patients in a hospital and outpatient setting, traditional laboratory experiments and activities, data entry, data quality assurance and control, conducting telephone or in person follow up with patients and administering simple clinical scales
2. Works with physicians and research team to identify possible patients to enroll and consent to study. Requires positive communication with clinical care teams.
3. Makes follow-up phone calls to patients enrolled in study for outcome data. May involve administering simple clinical / outcome scales over the telephone or in person.
4. Maintains accurate and timely records to include notebooks, records, databases, etc. as needed by
the research projects.
5. Monitors laboratory and/or other supplies to ensure sufficient inventory to support research
projects. Ensures quality of reagents or other supplies.
6. Stays abreast of new and updated protocols for research department
7. As needed, coordinates the work of laboratory technicians, support staff and other assistants to
ensure efficient, timely and high-quality results. Answers questions or resolves problems regarding
routine or more complex duties.
8. Complies with all governmental and University policies, rules, regulation and codes.
9. May participate in continuing education programs, workshops and seminars.
10. Performs other duties as assigned.

General knowledge of research fields. Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications. The ideal candidate will have attention to detail, will be highly organized, self-driven, and motivated. P reference for Phlebotomy certification; will receive training and certification if not already certified.

Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds constantly and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
This position may include work involving potentially hazardous chemical, biological or radioactive agents.
