Engineer, Industry Standards (Finance)



The Sr. Engineer, Industry Standards position is accountable for actively participating in the development of industry standards activities for specific Schneider Electric solutions and applications in North America. The engagement of this position reaches across multiple Schneider Electric businesses and the electrical industry through numerous associations and organizations including, NEMA, NFPA, UL, CSA, IEEE, and IEC..

Key responsibilities

  • Actively participate in industry standards committees representing Schneider Electric
  • Establish SE positions supporting the development of industry codes and standards.
  • Interact with engineering, marketing, manufacturing, sales, and customers in order to align industry standards needs to support the business.
  • Conveys industry standards knowledge internally and externally through codes and standards publications and training.
  • Ensures the goals, objectives, and positions of industry standards activities are consistent with Schneider Electric business direction and strategies.

Requirements:

A candidate for this position must possess solid:

  • technical background in electrical distribution and control application and design
  • listening, oral, written, and presentation communication skills
  • relationship building skills with internal functions and external industry organizations
  • organization skills to manage numerous activities simultaneously
  • understanding of the codes and standards development processes (UL, NFPA, NEMA, IEEE,...)

The candidate must:

  • develop an understanding of how industry standards are integrated into assembled electrical equipment and systems
  • work with peers to understand the impact of codes and standards changes on products and installations
  • make independent decisions on company positions relative to external standards issues that support business objectives
  • manage external standards positions and the interface of others within the business
  • support internal and external customer educational activities through presentations and articles
  • develop an understanding of codes and standards activities in Mexico and Canada along with applicable IEC standards and drive consistent positions on standards issues that support the business
  • support customer needs in resolving installation and acceptance issues.

Education

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering - Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Preferred
  • support internal and external customer educational activities through presentations and articles
