Dietary Aide (Food Services)



Delhi Post Acute is seeking a motivated and reliable Dietary Aide to join our dedicated team. As a Dietary Aide, you will assist with meal preparation, delivery, and kitchen sanitation. You will play a vital role in ensuring residents receive nutritious and timely meals. This role reports to the Cook and Dietary Supervisor and requires flexibility, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn food service routines quickly.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Learn and follow food service routines quickly.
  • Set up meal trays and assist with meal service to residents.
  • Strip down returned trays and assist with washing dishes.
  • Monitor and record chlorine concentration and water temperature for the dishwashing machine at the start of each shift.
  • Operate the dishwasher and ensure cleanliness of all kitchen equipment.
  • Prepare nourishments and snacks as directed.
  • Sweep, mop, and maintain cleanliness in the kitchen and dining areas.
  • Carry out trash and garbage, ensuring safe disposal.
  • Organize and store groceries safely and cleanly.
  • Clean work surfaces, refrigerators, and maintain a sanitary environment.
  • Participate in ongoing training and orientation for dietary staff.
  • Work in harmony with team members across departments.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience in a food service role is a plus, but not required.
  • Ability to read and follow recipes, technical procedures, and safety guidelines.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to follow instructions.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
  • Must obtain and maintain a food handler's certificate.

Physical Demands:

  • Frequent standing and walking.
  • Occasional sitting and reaching with hands and arms.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, and pushing/pulling.
  • Ability to work in various physical conditions, including lifting and cleaning.
  • Good vision for close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception.

Work Environment:

  • The noise level is generally low to moderate.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
