IT Audit Intern (Finance)

If selected for the internship, you must be able to commit to the full 12 months and be enrolled at a university throughout the length of the internship. Must be able to work onsite at the Royal Credit Union Corporate Center in Eau Claire, WI, throughout the school year and during breaks.

What You'll Do:

The IT Audit Internship provides experience in information systems auditing within Royal's Audit Services Department. Under the direction of the Chief Internal Auditor, the Intern will: Perform or assist in audits with a focus on technology, security and data integrity in accordance with professional standards along with other duties as assigned. Our Commitment To You:

  • Compensation: $19.28 - 21.65 per hour (candidates with significant related experience may be higher)

What's Needed For This Position:

  • Enrolled at a university throughout the length of the internship, pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in a major or minor related to Information Systems
  • Must be bondable upon hire
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with a customer-focused mindset
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools and ability to quickly learn new technologies
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to meet multiple deadlines

What We'd Love To See:

  • Coursework in the field of Accounting
  • Experience working, volunteering, or participating on a team or club while balancing school work

Intern Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To: 

  • Conduct audits focused on information systems, security, and compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
  • Evaluate internal controls and prepare detailed audit reports with findings and recommendations.
  • Assist in preparing for external audits and maintaining organized audit documentation.
  • Analyze continuous monitoring reports and follow up on previous audit recommendations.
  • Support departmental administrative functions and contribute to innovation and process improvements.

Work Schedule:

  • Working approximately 15-20 hours/week during the school year and 35-40 hours/week during the summer. Generally working variable hours between 8:00am – 5:00pm Monday through Friday based on class schedule.
  • Must be able to work onsite at the Royal Credit Union Corporate Center throughout the school year and during breaks.
  • This is a limited term, non-benefit eligible, position that will go from May 2026 - May 2027.
  • Must be able to commit to the 12 month internship.

Training:

  • Prior to starting a normal work schedule, new Royal team members must attend Foundation Training at our Corporate Center in Eau Claire, WI from 9:00am - 4:30pm on Monday and Tuesday during their first week of employment. Out of town learners will be reimbursed costs related to travel and lodging.
  • Foundation Training covers fundamental information about Royal's culture and core values which sets the stage for team members to be successful within our organization.
