Senior Engineer - Mechanical (Engineering)



Federal Signal is searching for a Senior Mechanical Engineer who can assist in making decisions on engineering problems and issues, requiring the use of advanced techniques and the adaption and extension of theories and practices of own field and related disciplines.

Key Activities/Responsibilities 

  • Designs and develops new products within specification, budget, and time constraints.
  • Guides the development of technical specifications of new designs and redesigns for marketing technical literature and engineering specifications.
  • Troubleshoot product systems as required and works directly with technicians and assemblers to resolve issues.
  • Provides mechanical design guidance and technical assistance to applications, test, and tech support personnel.
  • Assists manufacturing engineering or contract manufacturers with product assembly and test techniques.
  • Verifies and validates design output as specified in the product design specification.
  • Determines mechanical test parameters for component and final products.
  • Fabricates mockups and builds working prototypes of new products.
  • Provides technical expertise to manufacturing, purchasing, marketing, service, sales, and quality assurance on product related issues.
  • Assists purchasing, manufacturing engineering and quality assurance in vendor selection.

Required: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical engineering, from an accredited university
  • 10 or more years of engineering experience. Advanced degree desired.
  • Must be proficient in mechanical design and must be highly proficient in SolidWorks or equivalent 3D CAD software.  Acoustic and/or lighting background preferred
  • Knowledge of basic principles, theories, and concepts.
  • Broad application of principles, theories, and concepts in applicable discipline, plus working knowledge of other fields.
  • Sufficiently understands customer requirements and delivers results that meet these needs.
  • Possesses strong verbal and written communications skills

Salary Range: $77,998/yr - $120,000/yr
