SIG Sr. Project Engineer (Finance)

Job Description:

The Sustainability engineering team supports all activities and projects pertaining to the Sustainable in a Generation (SiG) for Operations Program across Mars Wrigley North America. The Mars SiG for Operations Program targets 100% of its factories globally to be fossil-fuel free across its direct operations by 2040. The sustainability engineering team is responsible for developing the strategy, building the roadmap of projects as well as development and execution of critical SiG engineering projects. This team partners with global engineering, regional engineering, sites, and other technical teams to drive innovation, develop standards, oversee SiG programs and ensure MW achieves its sustainability goals. This position can be based out of any MW Hub and most sites.

The Sr. Sustainability Project Engineer will be a champion of SiG by Design, the SiG Playbook, and SiG Road Mapping. They will serve as a sustainability leader for the greater engineering community and site sustainability teams. This person will also be responsible for the design and installation of key sustainability projects. The Sr. Sustainability Project Engineer is an active member of the Engineering community, sustainability engineering team, the local engineering team, and assigned project team(s). The Project Engineer is responsible for deploying his/her engineering know-how, business knowledge and creativity to successfully design, execute and deliver projects to the business that provide a competitive advantage.

What are we looking for?

Minimum:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years' experience in a comparable technical position - food, beverage, pharmaceutical or related industry preferable
  • Proven track record in successfully executing capital projects of greater than $1M value.
  • Demonstrated ability to safely manage consultant engineering firms as well as mechanical and electrical installation contractors in a factory environment.
  • Interpersonal and influencing skills including communication and listening
  • 20 to 50% travel requirement

Preferred:

  • Understanding of engineering principles - Process, Utilities, Sustainability. Knowledge of multiple disciplines
  • Ambassador of sustainability programs
  • Training in food safety, associate safety, construction safety

What will be your key responsibilities?

  • Provide innovative sustainability engineering solutions that drive a competitive advantage
  • Ensure delivery of scope, timeline, budget, and cash flow for all assigned engineering projects in accordance with the Engineering Work Process (EWP)
  • Accurately scope and estimate capital projects that are technically feasible and meet business and segment plans
  • Communicate and collaborate with all Stakeholders and other functions (R&D, Quality, Commercial, Finance, Safety) to ensure capital project objectives are clearly defined and achieved.
  • Key member and contributor of the CVS (Commission, Validation, Start-up) Team
  • Effectively monitor and ensure a safe work environment
  • Lead site utility assessments, multi-year roadmap development, deployment, execution, and continuous improvement.
  • Engage associates at all levels of the business on the SiG Program through education and collaboration
  • Support strategic discussions with internal, cross-segment, regional, global teams, community of practices and stakeholders on SiG program management.
  • Technically review regional and site engineering projects via the SiG by Design program, ensuring engineering designs align with sustainability standards and driving accountability.
  • Develop, implement, and improve SiG training programs, including SiG by Design, capability development, and utility systems knowledge.
  • Ensure the understanding of engineering standards, encourage innovation and sharing of best practices related to sustainability.
  • Cultivate an innovation mindset, including investigating the latest technologies to drive the Mars SiG ambition of Zero Green House Gas emissions.
  • Understand relevant ESG government programs/incentives.

The base pay range for this position at commencement of employment is between the range listed below, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.The total compensation package for this position will include variable pay, medical and dental benefits, participation in 401k plan, and paid time off benefits.Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an applicant receives an offer of employment.
