Your Role: Account Manager, Pet Health Retail

As an Account Manager, Pet Health Retail, you will play a vital role in supporting the Senior Key Account Manager to cultivate and expand key customer accounts within the retail sector. You will be a crucial link between Elanco and our valued retail partners, fostering strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. This role offers a unique opportunity to develop a deep understanding of the retail landscape, anticipate customer needs, and ensure their satisfaction, ultimately driving revenue growth for Elanco. In addition to relationship management, this position provides significant exposure to operational processes, allowing you to hone key skills in analytics, financials, and strategic account management. You will gain valuable experience in navigating the complexities of key account management, setting you up for future success within Elanco.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Account Planning and Support: Provide comprehensive support to the Senior Key Account Manager by conducting customer-centric analyses, managing financial aspects of the accounts, navigating operational intricacies, nurturing key relationships, delivering impactful internal and external presentations, and contributing to decision-making that supports our strategic plan.
  • Internal and External meetings and alignment: Lead and facilitate daily meetings, providing valuable input and staying informed about current initiatives and changes. Follow through with action items for both parties, utilizing strong internal collaboration skills and timely execution of all necessary tasks.
  • Operational Collaboration and execution: Meet weekly with the warehouse and supply team, Customer service, Retail operations, accounting teams to ensure we are mitigating business issues that could impact the Customer or Elanco Sales.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Ensure effective cross-functional collaboration among internal teams (e.g., Shopper marketing, Brand, customer service, supply chain, and finance) to ensure coordinated efforts and achieve common internal goals and address customer needs promptly and efficiently.
  • Financial Management: Process customer invoices and rebates accurately and efficiently, ensuring timely payment and reconciliation. Work with Finance team to ensure checkbook balances and both parties are adhering to Contractual deliverables
  • Customer Program Analysis: Analyze the performance of existing customer programs, identify areas for improvement, and recommend adjustments to optimize program effectiveness and ROI, leveraging Finance and Omnium analysis where appropriate. Track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure program success and identify areas for future investment.
  • Account Education and Communication: Help to facilitate internal education and communication within the organization, promoting understanding and effective cooperation between business units such as, but not limited to Vet Sales, Retail, and Home delivery. Support Senior Account Manager, Category Manager and Shopper Marketer in the monthly/quarterly account business reviews for both RX and OTC Brand teams
  • Opportunity Identification: Collaborate with Category Management and Shopper Marketing teams to identify opportunities and gaps, utilizing data-driven insights to inform strategic planning.
  • Issue Resolution: Proactively work to resolve any arising issues, ensuring smooth operations and customer satisfaction
  • Relationship Building: Develop and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers and influencers within customer accounts. Act as a trusted advisor to customers, providing insights and solutions that address their unique business challenges.

What You Need to Succeed (minimum qualifications):

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Sales, Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Required Experience: Minimum two years of experience in business-to-business (B2B) sales or equivalent selling experience within a competitive environment. Experience in the animal health industry is a strong plus.
  • Top Skills: Proven problem-solving skills, analytical abilities, and a passion for continuous improvement. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).

  • Strategic Thinking: Demonstrated ability to think strategically, anticipate future market trends, and develop innovative solutions to address customer needs.
  • Knowledge of ecommerce retail industry best practices.

Additional Information:

  • Travel: 30%
  • Location: Remote, South Florida preferred

Elanco currently anticipates that the base salary for this position could range from $105,000 to $155,000 depending partly on the successful candidate's qualifications, including education and experience. Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending partly on company and individual performance). Additionally, Elanco offers a comprehensive benefit program to eligible employees that includes a company-matching 401(k); vacation benefits; eligibility for medical, dental, vision, and prescription drug benefits; flexible benefits (e.g., healthcare and/or dependent day care flexible spending accounts); life insurance and death ­benefits; certain time off and leave of absence benefits; and well-being benefits (e.g., employee assistance program, fitness benefits, and employee clubs and activities). Of course, the compensation is subject to change and could be higher or lower than the range described above.
