Scheduling/Claims Associate (Finance)



Compensation Range
$100,000.00 - $140,000.00 Annual Salary

Job Description Summary:
Consult with Project Teams to review and analyze entitlement positions with regards to schedule delays, productivity impacts, and review subcontractor claim positions, as well as develop schedules and review schedule baselines and updates.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Research, organize and assemble project documentation and facts related to claim entitlement issues and damage recovery under the contract
  • Conduct forensic cost and schedule analysis in support of detailed cause and effect claim presentations
  • Supervise Scheduling/Cost Analyst Interns, Scheduling/Cost Analysts, Scheduling/Claims Analysts
  • Partner with jobsite and division office Teams in evaluating contractual entitlement and potential cost recovery and/or defense options
  • Recommend measures to Project Teams with regards to protecting and/or preserving rights to recovery of claims
  • Participate in preparing plans to mitigate liabilities and/or develop approaches and methods of claims avoidance
  • Perform detailed schedule analyses necessary to quantify Contractor's entitlement / liabilities utilizing critical path methodology
  • Quantify Contractor damages resulting from project delays, disruptions, and acceleration
  • Participate in preparing claims for mediation and in recommendations and settlement negotiations
  • Prepare project specific recovery/acceleration plan schedules as required under the Contract
  • Perform system administrator functions related to P6 EPPM
  • Provide instructional design support and conduct training for end users of P6 EPPM
  • Participate as trainer in Swinerton training sessions (Cornerstone, Foundations, Structural)
  • Develop baseline contract schedules with project team and support schedule updates
  • Travel within California and the U.S. to project sites and other Swinerton offices (approximately 4 days/month)
  • Complete other responsibilities as assigned

MINIMUM SKILLS OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Engineering, Construction Management, or Architectural degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 4 years of experience (construction claims analysis or construction project controls field and scheduling) -- With 3 years in the construction claim field
  • Construction claims analysis and scheduling experience required
  • Strong working knowledge of current construction scheduling software applications
  • Advanced knowledge of P6 EPPM including baseline schedule development, system administration functions, and ability to train others in system functionality
  • Delay and disruption claim preparation assembly experience including:
    • Critical path method scheduling and analysis experience
    • Developing impacted As-Built schedule analysis
    • Developing contractor damage calculation experience
    • Entitlement argument and narrative writing experience
    • Entitlement fact package assembly and development experience
    • Analyzing Subcontractor claim damages
    • Participation in claim negotiation preferred
  • Working knowledge of construction means and methods, management techniques, and cost accounting principles
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel and PowerPoint, working knowledge of Outlook and Word
  • Ability to write reports using Oracle BI Publisher or similar application preferred
  • Experience in integrating P6 EPPM and Synchro for 4D Schedule models
  • Proficient written and verbal English communication skills, including business writing skills, and professional telephone manner
  • Ability to regularly travel
  • Reliable, dependable, and flexible
