Responsible for the operations of a large program or center at the university. Oversees staff, budgets, and projects.

1. Oversees a large department, program or center.
2. Manages budget and engages in strategic planning to ensure all goals are met.
3. Hires and directs the activities of staff.
4. Resolves personnel issues as they arise.
5. Engages in budget-planning, grant oversight, and policy development.
6. Implements new programs and projects and monitors ongoing activities of department or center.
7. Reviews department policies and processes and implements improvements as needed.
8. Represents department or center to internal and external constituents.
9. Performs other job-related duties as required.

Notes to Applicant:
This position will be off campus at the Texas Gulf Coast SBDC Region Office, located at 1455 West Loop South in the Houston Galleria area.

The SBDC Network is funded through cooperative agreements with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), the Office of Small Business Programs (OSBP), and the State of Texas. The continuation of all SBDC positions is contingent on the continuation of funding from both the SBA and the State of Texas at current levels.

This is a specialized role focused on leveraging data to support SBDC operations and client services. The core function involves leading data-driven insights and strategic recommendations for a complex department that hosts two sponsored programs, with a primary goal of improving program effectiveness and client success.

The person in this position will:
• Provide guidance and support to network staff, ensure efficiency, and promote data best practices.
• Gather data from various sources (internal systems, client records, market research), manage databases, and perform analysis to identify trends and measure performance.
• Develop clear and concise reports and visualizations (dashboards, charts, graphs) to communicate insights to leadership, staff, stakeholders, and potentially clients.
• Provide strategic recommendations based on data analysis, offering actionable insights and guidance to improve SBDC services, programs, and client outcomes.
• Ensure data quality and integrity by implementing data governance practices and troubleshooting data discrepancies for the network.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, leading SBDC staff (Directors, Advisors, Program Managers), and potentially external partners (SBA, lenders, chambers of commerce) to leverage data effectively.
• Support grant applications and reporting, leading data and reporting efforts as necessary for program sponsors, accreditations, and grant applications.

MQ: Education: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Experience: Requires a minimum of five (5) years of directly job-related experience. Certification/Licensing: None.
