Biomedical Engineer (Finance)

We are seeking a passionate entry-level Biomedical Engineer to join our Virtual Surgical Planning department, where you'll play a critical role in developing life-saving solutions for acute trauma patients with complex head and neck injuries. The ideal candidate will excel in analyzing medical imaging data, simulating surgical procedures, designing custom anatomical models and surgical guides, and operating advanced 3D printing technology to create precision medical devices in a dynamic, patient-focused environment. You must thrive in fast-paced, high-stakes situations where priorities shift rapidly, as you'll collaborate directly with surgeons and clinicians to deliver urgent surgical solutions that can't wait for traditional timelines. Onsite

This role has an onsite work schedule requiring the person to be in the onsite location 7 days a week. This means you will work intensively for two consecutive weeks straight (including all weekends) followed by one complete week off, with this rotating cycle continuing year-round to ensure 24/7 coverage for critical trauma patients.

What You Will Do

  • Collaborate directly with surgeons and clinical teams through phone consultations, emails, and web meetings to develop personalized surgical plans that address each patient's unique anatomical challenges and clinical needs.
  • Analyze and interpret complex medical imaging by reviewing CT and MRI studies in DICOM format to identify critical anatomical structures and plan optimal surgical approaches for trauma cases.
  • Design and engineer custom surgical solutions using advanced CAD and 3D design software to create patient-specific anatomical models, surgical guides, and medical devices tailored to each procedure.
  • Manage end-to-end 3D printing operations including build preparation, machine operation, and post-processing of printed devices to ensure precision and clinical readiness.
  • Conduct rigorous quality assurance by inspecting finished surgical guides and medical devices, performing hand finishing with specialized tools, and ensuring all products meet clinical effectiveness standards.
  • Coordinate complex case management by maintaining detailed documentation in compliance with Quality Management Systems while juggling multiple urgent priorities across a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Deliver rapid-response solutions for time-sensitive trauma cases, adapting quickly to changing clinical requirements and emergency situations that demand immediate surgical planning support.
What You Will Bring

  • Educational foundation with a Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical discipline that provides strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Proven relationship-building skills with the ability to establish trust and maintain strong partnerships with surgeons, clinical staff, and key stakeholders while delivering exceptional customer service under pressure.
  • Relevant technical experience in medical device design, 3D modeling, additive manufacturing, or related fields that showcases your hands-on ability to translate clinical needs into innovative engineering solutions.
  • Adaptability and resilience to thrive in an unpredictable, high-stakes environment where you can quickly shift priorities, work non-traditional hours, and maintain precision and quality when every case could be life-changing.

Preferred Experience

  • Clinical collaboration experience working directly with healthcare professionals, demonstrating your ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively and understand clinical workflows in fast-paced medical environments.
